If This is Christmas

lyrics

Someone told me Christmas comes this time each year
Raising holly, chestnuts roasting and endless cheer
Magic's gone, I fear
Yet the season whispers I can't help but hear

"To give is better than to receive."
You'll smile and take it if you believe.
Hum the songs and dance 'round the tree.
Where's your Christmas spirit? Why can't I just hear it?

If this is Christmas, where's the chilled snow falling softly outside my window?
Why's the road so long and winding leading to the things worth finding?
If this is Christmas, I've been learning, some things we love aren't returning.

Someone told me a King was born to save my soul
to a virgin a peasant boy in a manger cold
Yet angels cried his name
A silent earth could hear the savior say…

“To give is better than to receive.
Come to me, I’m all that you need!
Learn to serve those in greatest need.”
Cries the holy spirit. Why can we not hear it?

This is Christmas . See the chilled snow falling softly outside my window?
Follow roads so long and winding. It will lead to the things worth finding.
Yes, this is Christmas, and I am learning the one who’s (who is) love- he’s returning.

Hallelujah – Emmanuel
“To give is better than to receive
Come to me! I’m all that you need.”
