lyrics

Christmas Is

Christmas is the paper dove you wore
Wrinkled, stained - “We love you Mom” scrawled and worn
Now I place it gently on the tree
Reminding me, the best things have to leave

At times like these I drive through winter’s storm
Climb the tallest hills and cross the gorge
At the bended tree I hear a prayer from the North...
It still snows on this Christmas morn

Christmas is the sound of stories told
Loved ones gather, laughter rises - the breath we hold
Now a snowboot pressing new-born snow
Breaks the silence that I’ve grown to know

At times like these I’ll drive through winter’s storm
Climb the tallest hills and cross the gorge
At the bended tree I hear a prayer from the North…
It still snows on this Christmas morn

Christmas is the old car radio
Oh how we’d sing, a tattered choir - to songs we know
Now the static fills each joyful note
I turn it up and point the wheel towards home!

Oh I will drive through winter’s blessed storm
Climb the tallest hills and cross the gorge
At the bended tree I see a fire come aglow
Starts to snow on this Christmas morn
It still snows on this Christmas morn
May it snow on this Christmas...
